Check Services Which are Enabled at Boot


Type the following command to list all services which are enabled at boot:

#chkconfig –list | grep $(runlevel | awk ‘{ print $2}’):on

Sample output:



  • 0halt
  • 1Single-User
  • 2Multi-User mode, console logins only (without networking)
  • 3Multi-User mode, console logins only (text mode)
  • 4Not used/User-definable
  • 5Multi-User, Full multi-user graphical mode (with an X-based login screen)
  • 6Rebooting system
